Congratulations to our 2nd team for winning the Salver for the EWGA Midlands North – East Sub Division!

It was a really tense day of Foursomes and Singles matches against Staffordshire on August 31st at Wollaton Park. The team played magnificently and although 2/1 down in the morning Foursomes, came back strongly in the singles with 3 good wins and 3 very tough fights! The final result went down to the last match, the last hole, the last putt!! Brilliant stuff! Sadly we lost 5/4 overall -winning our sub division, but missing the regional trophy by a whisker. But I hear the team are determined to secure the overall trophy next year!! Well done to Captain Ali Marsh and everyone who played so well throughout the season. Here's to 2011…………………..

Ladies’ County 4’s Semi Final Results

Congratulations to all 4 clubs who made it through to the semi-finals – Hinckley played Melton Mowbray and Birstall played Longcliffe.

The final will be contested by Melton Mowbray and Birstall GC on Sunday September 19th at 2pm at Cosby.

Good Luck to everyone involved. Supporters will be most welcome!

Many congratulations to team Captain Alison Marsh and all the L&RLCGA 2nd team players who have beaten Notts & Lincs to a place in the Midlands finals at Wollaton Park GC on Tuesday August 31st!! They have had a great season and deserve their well-fought finals place. They will meet either Derbys, Staffs or Shrops…..Good Luck girls!

If you can get to Wollaton to support them they would be delighted!

COACHING DAY FOR NEW LADY GOLFERS

A Special Coaching Day has been organised for new lady club members and high handicappers. It will be held at Forest Hill GC on Wednesday September 15th from 9.30-4pm. This day is being suibsidised by EWGA and the County Golf Partnership. Cost only £15 including coffee, sandwich lunch and tuition. For more info see Fixtures/Entry Forms.

She has become the Junior County Girls Champion at Cosby on 28/6/10. She shot a Gross 79 which was good enough to retain her title. Well Done to all the girls who played on the hottest day of the year !!!

Day 1 'v' Shropshire - On a wet day at Kenwick Park we beat Shropshire 6.5 to 2.5 which was a great start to the week.

Other results – Lincs beat Staffs 5-4: Notts beat Derbys 6-3

Day 2 'v' Lincolnshire - Deluged with rain again, we lost today to a very strong Lincs side 6.5 to 2.5

Other scores: Notts (co-leader) beat Shrops 5.5/3.5 and Staffs beat Derbys 8/1

Day 3 'v' Derbyshire - Today was very windy and the rain stayed away. We were 2-1 down in the foursomes which makes it even more difficult. The Singles points were shared 3-3 which gave Derbys the win 5 – 4.

Other Scores :Lincs had a stunning victory over Shrops 9/0 / In a close match we lost to Derbys 5/4 and Staffs beat Notts 6/3

Day 4 'v' Staffordshire - Again Staffs is always a tough match but with 2 defeats we were now playing for Pride and we still could snatch 2nd and win the runners-up plate. We had a good day and were 2up in the mornign foursomes. We eventually went on to win 5.5-3.5.

Other Scores: Lincs beat Notts 8.5-0.5 /Derbys beat Shrops 5.5-3.5

Day 5 'v' Nottinghamshire - In the last match we we 1/2 point ahead of Staffs, so we had to beat Notts to claim 2nd. we were level at Lunch but unfortunately Notts claimed 4 of the singles and we were beat 3.5 – 5.5.

Lincolnshire were the overall winners, and will go on to represent the Midlands North at Kedlestone Park in the finals in September. Well done to them and good luck to Julia and her team
