County Week News

County Week is being held this year at Chevin in Derbyshire from:     

Mon 20th June – Fri 24th June.

The team has been announced after the County Championship in May…..

Please come and support the team at Chevin. All spectators are most welcome and the team would love to see you lining the fairways giving your support.

Match Day 1 - A beautiful sunny morning across the Derbyshire Peaks to battle against our hosts. What a great day and a good result

Leicestershire & Rutland v  Derbyshire – WINNER :  LEICESTERSHIRE & RUTLAND   SCORE: 5½ – 3 1/2

Match Day 2 - A little bit of cloud blew across the peaks but no sign of the rain yet.

Match Day 3 – After rain showers in the morning the afternoon was much brighter, however the eventual score was not.

Match Day 4  - After a hard fought match we knew we were playing for second place unless Lincs had an upset. We were up for the challenge and came back with a brilliant win over Shropshire

Nottinghamshire v Derbyshire                       - Winner:  Nottingham                                      Score 6 ½ – 2 ½ 

Match Day 5 – Our final day and we needed to win. Lincs had a tough game with Notts and maybe there could be an upset. We were    2-1 down in the foursomes but had a good singles and took 3 ½ points to get a draw. This was not enough to win the match or get second overall.

Staffordshire v Leicestershire & Rutland- Winner: Match Halved                                      Score 4 ½ – 4 ½

Lincolnshire were the overall winners again, with a fine performance all week. Good luck to them in the finals at Thorndon Park Golf Club in Essex in September.

1st – Lincolnshire -  4 Points (won 28.5 games)
2nd – Nottinghamshire – 4 Points (won 25.5 games)
3rd – Leicestershire & Rutland – 3.5 Points (won 24.5 games)
4th – Staffordshire – 2.5 Points (won 22.5 games)
5th – Derbyshire – 1 Point (won 18 games)
 
Lincolnshire were the overall winners, and  will go on to represent the Midlands North at Thorndon Park in September. Well done to them and good luck to Julia and her team

 I would like to personally thank all my players for playing hard and gutsy, you were fantastic. I have enjoyed my time as Captain and feel proud to have led such a great team.

I would also like to thank all the people who sent cards and "good luck" messages to us.

Even better were our faithful supporters. Those of you who travelled to Chevin and experiened the hills with us – a Big Thankyou.                     Thankyou to you all.
