L&RLCGA hosted an exciting internal match on Sunday 22nd March, bringing together the 1st Team and 2nd Team for a competitive and valuable early-season fixture at Kilworth Springs Golf Club.
The match provided a great opportunity for both captains, Rachel East and Tracey Bates, to experiment with new pairings ahead of the upcoming season. With plenty of talent across both squads, the fixture was an important step in assessing combinations and building strong partnerships.
It was also a special day for Ella Cunningham and Lucy Wheeler, who both made their debut appearances for the 1st Team. They rose to the occasion well and contributed to a strong overall team performance.
The format for the day was greensomes match play over 18 holes, offering a great balance of strategy and teamwork. Conditions were ideal, with fine weather and a course presented in good condition, allowing all players to perform at their best.
All matches were played in an excellent spirit, with sportsmanship evident throughout — a true reflection of the values of L&RLCGA. The 2nd Team put up a determined and spirited challenge, making every match competitive.
However, the strength and consistency of the 1st Team pairings ultimately proved decisive, with the 1st Team securing a 4–0 victory.
The match was a great success, providing both teams with valuable experience and insight as they continue preparations for the season.
