Kilworth Springs Range Night 24.2.25
Kilworth Springs Range Night
Another great range night, despite the cold weather we had a really good turn out. The 1st, 2nd and junior squads all had the opportunity to practice together and join in with some fun trackman team games. Well done to the winning team Ella, Mia, Diana and Sally. Huge thank you to Kilworth Springs Golf Club for hosting and to Ella Cunningham for organising the evening.
Yoga
Thursday 13th February 2025
As part of the out of season development programme we enjoyed an online yoga class with local yoga instructor Nikki.
10 players from the 1st, 2nd and Junior squads joined us on the evening. Some had done yoga before and there were some first timers. Nikki took us through some yoga poses and flows to help with general flexibility. The hour ended with a lovely relaxation and meditation.
Yoga is really good for golfers as it helps to improve core strength, flexibility and control. Many thanks to Nikki for leading us through a great session and to Tracey Bates for organising.
Forest Hill Range Night 5.2.24
Another great turn out for our range night on Wednesday 5th February. The range nights have been well received and have been such a good setting for our squads to practice together and to share skills and tips. Forest Hill were great hosts and the technology at the range enabled the squads to engage in some team challenges and games.
We had 15 players from the 1st, 2nd and junior teams attend and everyone participated. The range nights are becoming a successful part of our winter development plan. Our next range night will be at Kilworth Springs on Monday 24th February 7pm - 8.30pm
Strength & Conditioning for Golf
A 'Strength and Conditioning' session was put into the development programme to raise awareness of injury prevention and to give all our squads an insight into a number of ways in which we can improve our strength and fitness during the winter, when we are not able to play as much golf as we would like to, due to weather conditions and course closures.
On Tuesday 10th December, James Ward a highly recommended sports massage and injury rehab specialist and personal trainer delivered a golf specific hour strength and conditioning session for three of our County ladies, Caz Parkes-Walley, Ellie Your (Vice Captain) and Lisa Porter. The three ladies completed a very thorough questionnaire prior to the session, which James used to tailor the session. The session was also delivered online via zoom and all the 1st and 2nd team and older junior squad players to join.
For the squads watching via zoom, James demonstrated some basic warm ups for us to do prior to playing and practicing, along with how to adapt the strengthening exercises at home using equipment resistance bands.
Beedles Lake Range Night
During the winter last year the range nights proved to be very well suported and were a great opportunity for all the county squads to meet up and practice together. As a result of this we have added more range nights into the Development Plan for 2025.
Our first range night of the winter was on Thursday 28th November 2024 at Beedles Lake who were great hosts. All the players from The County 1st Team, 2nd Team and Junior Teams were invited. Considering the weather and the freezing temperatures, it was great to see so many enthusisatic golfers in good spirts. At the start of the session the squads had opportunity to warm up in small groups and then we came together for some target practice and team challenges.
