1st Day - Leicestershire and Rutland V Lincolnshire

We arrived at Holme hall Golf Club on the Sunday, the course was in great condition with the fairways narrow, rough think and the greens running fast and true. We had a tough start to the week when we played the host team Lincolnshire on the first day.

Helen & Caz lead the morning foursomes followed by Jenny & Gemma and then Imogen & Beth. Unfortunately after some close matches we were 3-0 down after the morning leaving a difficult afternoon ahead.

Imogen came up against challenging opposition India Clyburn narrowly losing on 17.

Florence also played well but lost on the 16th.

Caz continued her 2015 form winning on the 17th.

Jenny and Beth fought hard to take their games to the 18th, nanarrowly losing 1 and 2 down.

I played at the back of the pack, winning on the 15th.

The final score was unfortunately 7-2 to Lincolnshire but the score felt like it should have been much have closer.

Congratulations go to Jenny who scored her first hole in 1 at the par 3 13th hole.

Tomorrow we will play the English champions Nottinghamshire for another exciting contest.

County Week Day 5 v Lincolnshire

The last day saw us lead the games off at 8.15am with the return of the hot and sunny conditions as we faced defending champions, Lincolnshire.

In what was always going to be a tough foursomes sessions, we went into lunch 2-1 down with Gemma & Caz reuniting their foursomes partnership to bring in a great point 8&6.

Onto the singles which provided some very close tussles, with Gemma narrowly loosing on 17 and Emma loosing on 18. We managed to pick up one point with Caz winning 2&1, this saw her complete the week unbeaten bringing in 9 points out of a possible 10.

Unfortunately the over all score was 7-2 to Lincs, however credit must go to all the players this week. Particularly those making their debut, Lydia & Emma, in what were very challenging conditions with the heat and the tricky course.

Our congratulations go to Nottinghamshire who edged out hosts Staffordshire and will now go on and represent Midlands North at the grand finals in September.

We finished 5th from 6 teams and we look forward to bringing this squad on ready for next year when we travel to host County Lincolnshire under Captain Gemma.

County Week Day 4 v Derbyshire

After the three hottest days of the year, Thursday provided some much needed relief from the hot and humid conditions. This seemed to suit us as we took a good 2-1 lead from the morning foursomes, with Gemma & Emma along with Caz & Briony bringing in their points.

We went out into the singles full of positivity, with the rookies putting in a strong performance. Despite the wind & rain Lydia and Briony both brought in their first singles points of the week, followed by late stand in Moira along with Caz.

This meant an overall score of 6-3 and saw us bring in our first point of the week!!

A fantastic result, with each member of the team bringing in a point during the day.

County Week Day 3 vs Staffordshire

Wednesday saw us take on the host team Staffordshire on the hottest day of the year, with players making the most of ice towels and cooling sprays to tackle the heat.

A good morning sessions saw us all square going into lunch: Gemma & Emma secured a great point on the last and Immy & Caz battled back from 4 down at the turn to gain a vital half point.

The singles saw our inexperienced front players, Briony & Lydia, take on two very strong Staffs players and to their credit took them to the 15th and 16th respectively.

Unfortunately the two following matched continued to go Staffordshires way with Gemma & Immy losing.

Emma battled to a great half and Caz finished out on 17th for a 2&1 win.

Although it was an overall loss 6-3 the girls showed great spirit under difficult playing conditions and we look forward to a slightly cooler day on Thursday against Derbyshire.

County Week Day 2 vs Nottinghamshire

Day 2 was if possible hotter than Monday and saw us face the tough opposition of Notts.

With plenty of sun cream and water the foursomes headed on in the 2nd match of the day, leading pair Briony Allen & Lydia Sharpe lost 4&3. But the 2nd pair, Gemma Parkes & Emma Watson, and 3rd pair Immy Huxley & Caz Walley brought in their points, 1up and 4&3 respectively. Taking us into lunch with a great 2-1 lead.

Hopes were high for the singles however the weather was getting hotter still and unfortunately this played its part in a challenging afternoon. There were some tight games with 3 going to the 16th, however Caz brought in the only afternoon point, 3&1.

The overall match score finished 6-3.
