County week has begun in hot, sunny conditions as we faced Shropshire in the first match of the week. 

The first foursomes got under way at 8:15am as Gemma Parkes & Emma Watson lead the team out, followed by Briony Allen & Lydia Sharpe before Captain Caz & Immy Huxley got under way in match 3.

The first match had a tight game against Shropshires number 1 pair, losing 2&1. Briony & Lydia brought in the first point of the week with a fine 4&2 win, unfortunately we couldn't take the advantage into the afternoon as the final pair brought in a half point.

So honours even into the singles with the temperature rising by the minute, making it a hot & sticky afternoon ahead.

County champion, Gemma, went out top followed by Briony. Both losing 5&4 and 7&5 respectively. In 3rd spot Emma got her singles point 3&1. Immy lost 3&2 before Anne gained a well battled half in match 5 and Caz won match 6 6&4.

Unfortunately, this resulted in an overall match result of 5-4 to Shropshire. However we look forward to taking on Nottinghamshire in match 2 tomorrow morning.

On Sunday 26th April the 1st team played their last friendly of the season against Northamptonshire at Market Harborough Golf Club. It was a turn around in fortunes compared to the previous weeks match as we came in at lunch 3-1 down following the foursomes session. However, the team put in a strong afternoon performance in the singles picking up 6 out of 8 points on offer. With the final result a win to L&R 7-5.  

The match again provided the opportunity to give our junior players a run out - with Lucy Fisher Garfield making her debut for the County Ladies.

The 1st team played their annual friendly against Worcestershrie & Herefordshire at Cosby Golf Club on Sunday 19th April. The team had a strong morning session taking the foursomes matches 3-1, however we couldnt capitalise in the afternoon singles matches loosing the session 6-2; leading to an overall match defeat 7-5.

The match provided an opportunity to bring some of the junior players into the team to gain valuable match experience, notably Olivia Barrs making a fine 1st team debut winning both her foursomes and singles matches to take maximum points on the day. Congratulations must also go to Briony Allen who secured a hole in one during her afternoon singles match on the par 3 8th!

The 1st team started their season with a 3-1 win on Easter Sunday at Glen Gorse Golf Club in a warm up match against the County Senior Men.

The match provided the team with a great start to the season and a chance for everyone to get back into the swing of things.
