Strength & Conditioning for Golf
A 'Strength and Conditioning' session was put into the development programme to raise awareness of injury prevention and to give all our squads an insight into a number of ways in which we can improve our strength and fitness during the winter, when we are not able to play as much golf as we would like to, due to weather conditions and course closures.
On Tuesday 10th December, James Ward a highly recommended sports massage and injury rehab specialist and personal trainer delivered a golf specific hour strength and conditioning session for three of our County ladies, Caz Parkes-Walley, Ellie Your (Vice Captain) and Lisa Porter. The three ladies completed a very thorough questionnaire prior to the session, which James used to tailor the session. The session was also delivered online via zoom and all the 1st and 2nd team and older junior squad players to join.
For the squads watching via zoom, James demonstrated some basic warm ups for us to do prior to playing and practicing, along with how to adapt the strengthening exercises at home using equipment resistance bands.
Beedles Lake Range Night
During the winter last year the range nights proved to be very well suported and were a great opportunity for all the county squads to meet up and practice together. As a result of this we have added more range nights into the Development Plan for 2025.
Our first range night of the winter was on Thursday 28th November 2024 at Beedles Lake who were great hosts. All the players from The County 1st Team, 2nd Team and Junior Teams were invited. Considering the weather and the freezing temperatures, it was great to see so many enthusisatic golfers in good spirts. At the start of the session the squads had opportunity to warm up in small groups and then we came together for some target practice and team challenges.

End of Season Get Together – Hinckley GC – Sunday 10th November 24
Hinckley Golf club hosted the end of season get together, this was an opportunity for members of the 1st team, 2nd team and the junior teams to meet up and play together in an Am Am format.
The Weather was excellent for this time of year and the course was too. To mark it being remembrance Sunday the players all followed a minute silence at 11am.
There was a great atmosphere as our new County President Peggy Remington started the groups on the first tee, which continued throughout the round. There were some super Am Am team combinations but the winners with 77 points were: Lisa Porter (Lingdale) Victoria Mayfield (Rothley) Jane Burley (Market Harborough) and Eesha Patel (The Leicestershire)
Thank you to everyone who played.
Hollinwell
L&RLCGA 1st Team training at Hollinwell Sunday 2nd June in preparation for County week, was extremely valuable. This was an opportunity for the players selected for County Match Week to get together and play with potential foursomes partners. Playing a course out of county, which not all players have had the opportunity to play before meant that the players really had to communicate and work together to plot their way successfully around the course. The weather was fantastic and so was the course. Huge thank you to our County Captain, Suzanne Pretty, for organising.
Warwickshire match cancelled - 36 hole training
Unfortunately on Sunday 19th May the pre season friendly match against Warwickshire was cancelled. However our first team players selected for the match still got together and and played 36 holes in preparation for County week. County Captain, Suzanne Pretty used this opportunity to try out a variety of different foursomes pairings and strategies.
