The final of the 2017 Ladies’ County Foursomes was held at Glen Gorse Golf Club on Sunday 3 September. 24 teams had entered this year’s competition and the two teams remaining to battle it out in the final were Lingdale Golf Club and The Leicestershire Golf Club. Rain threatened all day but in the end never materialised and there was some excellent golf played during this final encounter.
Both matches were very close throughout most of the round but in the end the first match finished with Lingdale three holes up and in the second match Lingdale finished 1 hole up. So, in the end, the overall result was 4 up to Lingdale Golf Club and who therefore took the title of 2017 Ladies County Foursomes winners.
Congratulations to both teams for reaching the final and putting on some entertaining matches. Special congratulations go to Lingdale for their win (their last win was in 2002) and commiserations to the runners up The Leicestershire.
Thank you to all of the spectators who turned out to support both teams and contributed to the success of the day, to Glen Gorse Golf Club for giving us courtesy of the course, and to our referees, Dorothy Jones of Lutterworth and Colin Chamberlain of Glen Gorse.
