2017 L&RLCGA County Championship Day 2

LRLCGA Noticeboard : 2017 L&RLCGA County Championship Day 2

Day 2 of the Championship at Kibworth Golf Club has been overcast and damp although the wind has subsided somewhat since Day 1.  This has not affected the quality of golf played today, there have been some very tight matches.

Sixteen players battled it out in the quarter-finals match play of both the County Championship and the Russell Trophy in the morning session.  All of the matches were hard fought but in the end there were some convincing wins for some of the players.

Caz Parkes-Walley, Ellie York, Gemma Parkes-Walley (County Captain) and Olivia Barrs (County Girls Captain) came out on top in the Championship matches after the morning session and qualified for the semi- finals in the afternoon.

Rachel East, Sharon Statham, Clare Bailey and Suzanne Knott won their matches in the morning to qualify for the semi-finals of the Russell Trophy in the afternoon.

Once again, the afternoon matches were hard fought with Caz Parkes-Walley and Olivia Barrs qualifying for the 36 hole final tomorrow.  The winning semi-finalists for the Russell Trophy are Clare Bailey and Rachel East.

The finals of both the Championship and the Russell Trophy are scheduled for tomorrow, the Championship will be competed over 36 holes, and the Russell Trophy over 18 holes.

The presentation of trophies to all of the winners will be made at close of play at around 5.00pm on Sunday.

Thank you to all supporters and friends who came out to support the players today.
