Junior Captain's Newsletter : August Newsletter

Hello everyone

A bit of a quieter month this month, everyone must be saving up their good rounds for sometime soon! Nonetheless, in true Foxes spirit there are always achievements and hard work that has been going on. Again, the Lutterworth girls’ handicaps have been flying down. Katie Wheeler shot 46 points in a stableford off her handicap of 36, a huge cut coming! Lila Bisset has not only been excelling in her golf but also football. Along with winning three trophies at Lutterworth this month, Lila was also awarded the Sportsperson Award in recognition for her help with the younger juniors and Girls Golf Rocks. This was the not the end of good news, Lila has been signed for Aston Villa Football Club, a huge achievement! Karan Johal has been cut from 32 to 28 and Paige Mcmanus has also been cut from 33 to 27.

Last Sunday it was the Leicestershire Lady Fox, a 36 hole scratch event open to ladies and girls with handicaps under 18. It was great to see some of our older girls taking on the challenge with Eleanor Parkinson, Holly Waterfield, Francesca Brimm and myself taking part. The conditions were tough with the wind really picking up in the afternoon however, good scores were put together, a difficult task to maintain over 36 holes. The girls respectably finished 13th, 10th, 7th and myself finishing 4th. Some notable mentions from the day go to Fran who holed out with her pitch shot on the 7th for an eagle!  All in all, it was a fantastic event as usual hosted by the Leicestershire Golf Club with lots of experience gained from the day.

From Wednesday 29th July to Friday 31st July, Eleanor Parkinson played in the U14s North of England championship at South Moor Park in Durham. Eleanor was up against 26 girls and shot two respectable rounds of 85, 80 before following them up on the last day with a gross 70 (-3) to the course. This gave Eleanor a combined gross score of 235 crowning her North of England girls champion! Congratulations Eleanor!!

The write up from captain’s day will be in next month’s newsletter but my congratulations go to Grace Hubbard who won the overall day and the other prize winners. Thank you to everyone that helped out, I hope you all enjoyed the day as much as I did!
