In a match of exceptional quality between Imogen Huxley and Caz Walley there was nothing to separate the two as they approached the par 3 15th. Imogen nearly holed her tee shot leaving it 2 inches short. Caz replied with a fine iron shot to within 3 feet and holed the putt for birdie. The 16th saw Caz birdie the hole from the fringe to go 1 up. Imogen made a fine chip and putt from the side of the green to halve the 17th. A superb 3rd shot to the green saw Caz home winning the match one up.
There was mixed fortunes in the second semi-final between defending champion Gemma Parkes and Rebecca Hovell. Gemma played steady golf to go 2 up through 11. Unfortunately Rebecca had injured her foot and had to retire at the 12th, putting Gemma through to the final.
In the Russell Trophy, defending champion Emma Watson beat Lydia Sharpe 3/2 and Ellie York, playing in her first county championship beat Sue Barkes 5/3.
The finals will tee off at 10am and 10.10am respectively on Sunday 10th May and spectators are very welcome.
Good luck to all 4 finalists.
