County Week 2022 - Captains Report

LRLCGA Noticeboard : County Week 2022 - Captains Report

What a few days we have had. The sun shone and the course was beautiful.
Trentham was superb even if they did make us play off the yellow tees!
Monday was a tough day, Staffordshire in the morning and Lincolnshire in the afternoon.
This was not going to be easy!
Staffs pulled out all the stops, they played four Trentham ladies and two ex-professionals.
We didn’t pick any points up in the foursomes but Caz and Ellie won their matches to
give us two points.
Holly clawed her way back from 3 down in the top singles match but lost 1 down.
An extremely tough match but well done girls, we were so close.
Lincolnshire in the afternoon were equally as tough and we did get a point in the
foursomes from Holly and Rachel winning their match 3&2.
The singles matches Ellie and Caz both picked up points with Ellie holing her third shot
down the 18 th for an eagle to secure a 2 up win and Caz getting a half.
The match was halved 2.5 - 2.5.
Tuesday morning we faced Shropshire and they were a much stronger team than in recent
years.
Vicky and Ellie had a fine win in their opening foursome game 7&6. The singles we only
picked up a point from Caz meaning Shropshire won the match 3-2.
Derbyshire in the afternoon saw us have two fine wins from Ellie and Vicky 4&3 and
Helen and Karen 5&3 in the foursomes.
Caz and Holly also won their games 2&1 and 2up.
Win for Leicestershire 4-1
Wednesday morning we played Notts, the eventual winners, and they were strong.
Unfortunately, we lost 5-0.
Its has been another year for the youngsters to gain valuable experience and even though
we finished fifth there is a lot we have learnt and this can only be good for the future.
I’m so proud of my Ladies and well done Ellie on getting 4 out 5 points!
It wasn’t our year this year but it’s only a matter of time!
