County Week - Day 4

LRLCGA Noticeboard : County Week - Day 4

Thursday:

It had been a shame about wednesdays weather and since the match had only been played over 3points the outcome seemed a little unfair. After day 3 we were lying in 3rd place on 1 1/2 points which was 1/2 point ahead of derby and staffs. Thursday we took on old rivals Derby, both playing for 2nd place now. In the morning it was raining again for the foursomes, Imy and Ellie were 1st out, they had a great game, the played up 18th A/S but unfortunately found the 18th green tough and lost 1 down. Caz & Helen were out 2nd and unfortunately lost 3&2. Beth & Jo played 3rd and won 5&4. So we were 2-1 down after the morning 4's and need 4 singles points from 6 in the afternoon. The team were really up for the afternoon, after a quick turn around Emily led the field but had drawn one of Derbys top players and lost, Caz played 2nd and won 7&5, Ellie played 3rd, a close fight but lost 3&2, Helen won 3&1, and Beth out last finished with a 5&4 win. At 4 points each Gemma was playing up the last A/S, The Derby player hit her 2nd into 2 foot, Gemma followed into 5foot each putting for the match. Gemma unfortunately missed her putt, but the Derby player held her nerve on the slopey green and held it to win 1up. That made the final score 5-4 to Derbyshire.
