Our last 2^nd Team match of the season was played against Lincolnshire at Holme Hall on Friday 16^th August. From the results of our previous matches we knew that the winning team on the day would go forward to the Midlands North 2^nd Team Finals on 6^th September. Lincolnshire won the Finals in 2023 so we knew we were up against a strong team.

It was an early start but we had a lovely sunny day with a light breeze making perfect playing conditions.

Lisa Porter (Lingdale) & Beth Swain (Ullesthorpe) got us off to a good start finishing All Square in the first foursomes match. The Luffenham Heath pairing of Sally Jee and Helen Cox had another close match but finished 2/1 down. Karan Johal from The Leicestershire was making her County 2^nd Team debut and played with Sarah Storer from Cosby. Unfortunately they came up against tough opposition and lost their match.

At lunch we were 2¹/₂ to ½ down, leaving everything to play for in the singles.

Lisa Porter led the way in the afternoon and won her match 1up. Beth Swain and Sarah Storer both put up a great fight but lost their matches 1 down on the 18^th hole. Helen Cox lost another close match 2/1. As expected, Lincolnshire were fielding a very strong and experienced team and despite playing some good golf Sally Jee and Karan Johal both lost their singles matches.

The overall match score was a 7¹/₂ to 1¹/₂ loss, so Lincolnshire will go through to the 2024 Finals.

Although we missed out this year we have had a good series of matches, finishing as Runners-Up in our mini league. There have been plenty of positive experiences for us to take forward to next season.
