The second team played their opening match against Nottinghamshire at Oakmere Park on Friday.

Lisa Porter and Ella Cunningham led the way in the morning foursomes but came up against a really strong opposition to lose the opening match by 2 and 1. Sally Gee and Fiona Sharman showed what a great pairing they make and won by 1 up. Then a new pairing of Francesca Brimm and Donna Canning had a fantastic win of 2 and 1. So this was an amazing start and we  ended the morning session 2 -1 up.

Lisa Porter played some really good golf but lost out in the first match as her opponent was 3 under par. Francesca Brim had a massive battle on her hands and was down all of the way but battled on to gain an amazing half. Tracey Bates won her match on the 14th after her opponents ball just disappeared on the last hole, and Ella Cunningham had a great game winning 4 and 3. Fiona then won her game 3 and 2 and finally SallyJee was really battling to hold onto her match but her opponent sunk along putt on the last to secure the win. But this didn't matter as Leicestershire and Rutland won by 5 1/2 games to 2 1/2 games

There was a great team atmosphere and all of the matches were played in a good spirit with some very good golf played by both teams. We are looking forward to the return match at The Leicestershire on Wednesday the 15th of July.
