Hello everyone

September saw both the girls county championship and the ladies county championship take place. The first of which was the girls championship which took place at Glen Gorse on Sunday 13th September. Our county champion is Eleanor Parkinson who retained her title from last year shooting two impressive scores of 75 (+2), 75 (+2) for a combined total of 150. I played with her and her golf was nothing less than impressive! The results from the day are as follows:

County Champion (36 hole gross champion) – Eleanor Parkinson – 150 gross

36 hole runner up – Francesca Brimm – 173 gross

36 hole Nett champion – Victoria Mayfield – 150 nett (160 gross)

36 hole Nett runner up – Hannah Garner Stephens – 156 nett (186 gross)

18 hole gross champion – Scarlett Stevenson – 92 gross

18 hole nett champion – Henrietta Geddes – nett 71

18 hole nett runner up – Gabriella Crowfoot – nett 72

9 hole champion – Amelie Tutt – gross 54

9 hole best nett – Edie Speirs – nett 40

9 hole nett runner up – Megan Grimwood – nett 40.5

The Ladies County Championship took place a few days later at Lingdale. The event is a 3 day competition with the 36 hole qualifying day taking place on the Friday. The top 8 combined scores qualify into the championship knockout stages and qualifiers 9-16 qualify for the Russell. This year 3 of our juniors took part – Eleanor Parkinson, Victoria Mayfield and Francesca Brimm. Fran qualified into the Russell with a combined score of 85-87. Fran actually went on to win the Russell trophy, winning her match 5&3! Eleanor and Vicky both qualified into the championship. Eleanor qualified 4th shooting 76-84 and Vicky actually qualified top shooting 79-77 winning the Cathy Stephens trophy. Unfortunately Eleanor got knocked out in the quarter finals after a close match with Ellie York. Vicky made it through to the semi finals and played Ellie. It was a tight match which ended up in a sudden death playoff going down the 19th. Vicky lost in the first playoff hole to the eventual winner but valuable experience was gained for each junior. The full report from the weekend is on the website.

As with last month there have been club championships taking place. Victoria Mayfield won the Rothley Park ladies club championship shooting 78-78 to take the win. Some of our girls have also been playing in the Robert Rock Tour. Scarlett Stevenson finished third in the U18s at Sunningdale Heath and Grace Hubbard was her division winner at the Lady Captain’s day at Willesley. Also on the Robert Rock Tour, Eesha Patel has had 5 wins on the mini tour and came first at TLGC Junior Captain’s Day flag 50 competition!

It’s looking to be a good end to the season for the county girls!
