County Week - Day 2

County Week Day Two - Saturday June 17th
Morning Session
Leicestershire & Rutland Vs Nottinghamshire

On a not so sunny but more comfortable day, we played a very strong Nottinghamshire side. The
first foursomes pairing out were Jo and Tracy who unfortunately came up against Lauren Spray and
Laura Morris, the Notts pairing played exceptional golf and beat our pair midway through the back
nine.
Gemma and Ellie were paired in the foursomes again, playing another tough Nottinghamshire duo.
The Leicestershire and Rutland pair again went ahead early in their match managing to maintain their lead
and secured another point.

The singles matches were contested by Holly, Caz and Karen. All of who came up against
formidable opposition. Holly today, again played excellent golf especially on the greens winning 4 &
3. Caz and Karen unfortunately both lost mid way through the back 9
Result 3– 2 to Nottinghamshire

Afternoon Session
Leicestershire & Rutland Vs Derbyshire
In the afternoon foursomes matches L & R were represented by the two unbeaten pairings of Vicky
and Eleanor and Gemma and Ellie.
Derbyshire had just come off a morning win and were very confident, the first foursomes pairing of
Eleanor and Vicky were holding their own and were all square after 13 but lost the next 3 holes and
lost 3 and 2.
Second out were Gemma and Ellie, playing really well and went 3 up quickly and held this to the
turn, Derbyshire pegged them back early on the back 9 and then it was a case of 1up, all square, 1
down. The match ended up as a half and Gemma and Ellie remained unbeaten
point

The 3 singles matches were contested by Fran, Holly and Caz. Fran came up against a strong
opponent in Harriet Evans and very much held her own until the last few holes losing 3 & 2.
Holly – again played some great golf, going up early in the match and keeping the lead. Her short
game and putting were excellent with Holly winning 4 & 3.
Caz going out last in the singles, was very well matched with her opponent in a very close fought
contest with excellent golf played by both players. Unfortunately Caz was out of position on the 17th
which gave Derbyshire a 1 up lead going down the 18th Derbyshire held on to win 2up
Result 3.5 – 1.5 to Derbyshire

going up early and were 3up after 9 holes. Going onto win the match 3 & 1
The 2nd foursomes match pairing was Jo Morris-Bourne and Tracy Bourne from Willesley Park. The

after 9, marginally losing out with the last putt on the 18th and losing 1 down
Karen Haynes, Holly Waterfield and Caz Parkes-Walley made up the 3 morning singles matches.
Karen came up against Ellise Rymer a really tough opponent currently in the England squad, losing
out on the greens and lost 5 & 4
